Description:

**IMPORTANT** The Thyroid tablets we have access to and the Thyroid tablets that will be dispensed for your order WILL NOT be Armour Thyroid made by Forest Pharmaceuticals, but Thyroid tablets made by a Canadian drug company called ERFA.

What are the differences between Armour Thyroid made by Forest and your Thyroid made by ERFA?

Thyroid by ERFA is equivalent to Armour Thyroid by Forest. Thyroid by ERFA contains the same active medicinal chemical composition which is dessicated (Natural) thyroid derived from the dried thyroid glands of pigs. The differences exist in the non-medicinal ingredients (i.e. buffers and fillers) used to make up the tablet.

Thyroid by ERFA contains the following non-medicinal ingredients:

Cornstarch, Magnesium Stearate, Sugar and Talc. ERFA Thyroid tablets are Gluten, Paraben, Sulfite and Tartrazine free.

Armour Thyroid by Forest contains the following non-medicinal ingredients:

Dextrose, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Calcium Stearate and Opadry White (titanium dioxide used as a whitening agent). Armour Thyroid tablets do not contain gluten or lactose.

Is ERFA Thyroid available through NorthWestPharmacy.com the Old formulation or New formulation?

The ERFA Thyroid available through NorthWestPharmacy.com is neither the old formulation nor the new formulation. It is a unique patented formulation and has no correlation with Armour's formulation.

Will I get the same desired effect from taking ERFA Thyroid that I was from taking Armour Thyroid?

Since the active medicinal chemical composition of ERFA Thyroid is identical to Armour Thyroid, the desired result from taking ERFA Thyroid should be the same.

What strengths of ERFA Thyroid do you have available?

Please note that we only have access to the 30mg and 60mg strength tablets of ERFA Thyroid. Accordingly:

Prescriptions for Armour Thyroid 90mg will be dispensed as ERFA Thyroid 30mg x 3.

Prescriptions for Armour Thyroid 120mg will be dispensed as ERFA Thyroid 60mg x 2.

Prescriptions for Armour Thyroid 180mg will be dispensed as ERFA Thyroid 60mg x 3.

Prescriptions for Armour Thyroid 240mg will be dispensed as ERFA Thyroid 60mg x 4.

Prescriptions for Armour Thyroid 300mg will be dispensed as ERFA Thyroid 60mg x 5.

Armour Thyroid (desiccated thyroid) acts as a replacement for individuals whose thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. It can also be used to treat enlarged thyroid gland (goiter).

Prior to starting Armour Thyroid, you should tell your physician if you have any of the following conditions:
•angina
•diabetes mellitus
•heart disease
•high blood pressure
•low levels of pituitary hormone
•dieting or on a weight loss program
•previous heart attack
•an unusual or allergic reaction to thyroid hormones, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant

Armour Thyroid should be taken 30-60 minutes before a meal (on an empty stomach) with a full glass of water.

There are numerous medications (prescription, non-prescription and natural products) that may interact with Armour Thyroid. Consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to starting any new medications if you are currently on Armour Thyroid.

The most common side effects with Armour Thyroid are:
•changes in appetite
•changes in menstrual periods
•diarrhea
•fever
•hair loss
•headache
•irritability
•leg cramps
•nausea, vomiting
•tremors
