Amaryl – High Blood Sugar Treatment with Amaryl |
| Home |
|
Amaryl is a sulfonylurea-type drug used in the treatment of high blood sugar. It is typically used as a portion of an overall treatment plan that will also include diet and exercise. The drug contained in Amaryl is Glimepiride. Glimepiride is drug that is intended to aid the body in using the insulin made by the pancreas. Amaryl treats type 2 diabetes by controlling blood sugar levels through stimulating the release of the insulin naturally created by the body, in conjunction with a diet and exercise plan. It is an oral medication that is usually taken once a day. It is important to consume a full glass of water with Amaryl. Proper treatment of diabetes may reduce the risk of a number of other ailments, including kidney problems, cardiac arrest, stroke, blindness and loss of extremities. Just like any medication, Amaryl may induce side effects. Some of the less serious side effects may include nausea, rash, headache, fatigue, diarrhoea, sensitivity to sunlight. Amaryl may also cause more serious side effects that will require immediate medical attention, like numbness or tingling, breathing problems, feeling faint, pain in the upper stomach area, confusion, hallucinations, fever, bleeding, severe rash, unusually dark urine or light stools. Diabetes is a serious condition. It is important to know the symptoms of both high and low blood sugar. When taking medication to lower blood sugar levels, be aware of the signs of low blood sugar and be prepared to treat them if they occur. Low blood sugar is equally as dangerous as high blood sugar. Obtaining this medication from a Canadian pharmacy will require a prescription from a licensed physician. |
