Activella - Hormone Therapy with Activella

Activella – Hormone Therapy with Activella Activella or Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate is a combination of oestrogen and progestin. Doctors typically prescribe it for the treatment of menopausal symptoms and post-menopausal osteoporosis. This hormone therapy provided by Activella is specifically intended to provide relief for moderate to severe hot flashes, discomfort attributed to vaginal dryness, vulvar and vaginal atrophy, and the prevention of osteoporosis.

Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate is created through combining two hormones, both extracted from plants. The oestrogen used in Activella will help minimize the effects created by the lowered natural oestrogen levels in the body, like hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Additionally, it will aid in the prevention of post-menopausal osteoporosis through its natural ability to help build and maintain healthy bones. Progestin is included in Activella because of the innate balance it creates for the oestrogen. Excessive oestrogen without the balance of progestin may cause significantly increased risk of uterine cancer. Although the risk isn’t eliminated with progestin, it is reduced.

It is important to be aware of the potential side effects of Activella. The more common side effects may include headaches, back aches, nausea and vomiting, weight gain, and irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting. Breast cancer, uterine cancer, heart attacks, blood clotting, ovarian cancer, stroke and dementia are less common but very serious potential side effects. Due to the progestin content, do not take any Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate drug if the uterus has been removed. Be sure to discuss any of these side effects with a physician. If using hormone therapy only for osteoporosis, discuss other options with a doctor prior to committing to a drug regimen. As with any hormone therapy drugs requested from a Canadian pharmacy, Activella requires a prescription from a licensed physician.
