However, going for a run with old shoes could do more harm than good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you run, your shoes are all that separates you from the ground, protecting your feet from damage and absorbing some of the blow as you take a step. Without proper protection, you\u2019ll feel the impact in every joint, from your ankles to your knees to your hips and back. When running, it\u2019s worth the time and money to make sure that you\u2019re giving your body the tools it needs to stay safe and healthy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When To Go Shoe Shopping<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Experts recommend replacing your shoes based on mileage rather than the amount of time you\u2019ve owned the shoes. After all, you\u2019re going to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nike.com\/a\/how-often-to-replace-running-shoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">putting a lot more wear on your shoes<\/a> if you\u2019re training for a marathon versus occasionally going on a jog around the block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experts like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nike.com\/a\/how-often-to-replace-running-shoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Nike<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rei.com\/learn\/expert-advice\/replace-shoes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">REI<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fleetfeet.com\/how-to-start-running\/how-long-do-running-shoes-last\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Fleet Feet<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shape.com\/when-to-replace-running-shoes-7550022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Shape<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.runnersworld.com\/gear\/a33233314\/how-many-miles-do-running-shoes-last\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Runner\u2019s World<\/a> all recommend getting new running shoes every 300 to 500 miles.
