ADVANTAGE MULTI FOR DOGS (IMIDACLOPRID/MOXIDECTIN)

Two Active Ingredients Protect Your Canine From Parasites

Advantage Multi for Dogs provides broad-spectrum parasite protection for your pet. This prescription strength topical medication contains a combination of the insecticide Imidacloprid and Moxidectin, parasitic drugs applied as a once-a-month treatment to protect your dog from a variety of harmful and bothersome parasites. Dosage is determined and packaged based on the weight of your dog.

How Advantage Multi for Dogs Works

When applied to a specific area of your canine so it cannot be groomed off, one of the active ingredients of Advantage Multi for Dogs called Imidacloprid starts to work by affecting the nervous system of the flea on contact, resulting in paralysis and eventual death of the flea which can cause tapeworms in your pet if ingested while grooming.

Moxidectin, the other active ingredient in Advantage Multi for Dogs, prevents heartworm if treated before exposure to the mosquitoes that carry the disease, as well as kills the larval stage of heartworm, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms by a process that involves interference with the parasites nerve and muscle cells so they become paralyzed and die and are passed from your pets body.

Conditions Treated by Advantage Multi for Dogs

Advantage Multi for Dogs provides protection for your dog from a number of different parasites. It prevents heartworm disease and treats circulating larva, kills adult fleas and treats flea infestations, and treats sarcoptic mange caused by scabies. Advantage Multi for Dogs may also be prescribed by your veterinarian to treat such common intestinal parasites as roundworms, hookworms and whipworms.

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in dogs. It causes severe lung disease, heart failure and organ damage. Heartworm disease is caused by a worm parasite called Dirofilaria immitis that is spread through the bite of a mosquito. Heartworms in dogs are easy to prevent with medication like Advantage Multi, but can be very difficult to cure.

Before Advantage Multi for Dogs is Administered

Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection prior to administration of Advantage Multi for Dogs or any heartworm medications. Tell your veterinarian if your dog is pregnant or nursing puppies as you may need to wait before applying Advantage Multi for Dogs.

Proper Use of Advantage Multi for Dogs

Advantage Multi for Dogs is not to be given orally – it is applied topically to the skin on the back of your dog’s neck. For the first 30 minutes after application, ensure that dogs cannot lick the product from application sites on themselves or other treated dogs. Treated dogs should be separated from one another and from young children in the household and other pets to reduce the risk of accidental ingestion. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying Imidacloprid/Moxidectin.
