Amrix (Cyclobenzaprine ER)

Amrix may be prescribed to treat muscle spasms by providing relief for the pain, tenderness, and stiffness that can occur with most musculoskeletal conditions. The active ingredient called Cyclobenzaprine Extended Release does not work on the affected muscles but in your central nervous system where it blocks nerve impulses which stops your brain from receiving any messages that you have an injury. You should only take Amrix as a short-term medication along with rest and physical therapy to get you back up and on your way as soon as possible.

Ask your doctor about any risks of taking Amrix if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or are breast feeding. Tell your doctor about other medications you take to be sure you won’t experience any severe side effects. If you are 65 years of age or older, your doctor may recommend taking something other than Amrix due to the risk of side effects that may be more serious due to your age. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation.

Until you know how Amrix will affect you, do not drive or take part in any activities that could be unsafe if you are not clear-headed or steady on your feet. Amrix and other medications should be stored out of children’s reach and never shared with anyone else.
