What is Cequa?

Cequa is an eye drop medication that contains the active ingredient cyclosporine. Patients and caregivers can buy Cequa ophthalmic solution at discounted prices online at NorthWestPharmacy.com.

What is Cequa used for?

Cequa eye drops (cyclosporine ophthalmic solution) are used to treat dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). When the eyes are inflamed, they are not able to make natural tears as effectively, which can lead to chronic dry eyes. Cequa eye drops work by reducing inflammation in the eyes and helping the eyes to produce their own natural tears.

What are the side effects of Cequa?

The common side effects of Cequa include eye pain or irritation and redness of the eye. Some other potential side effects are inflammation of the eyelids, headache, or rare infections in other parts of the body.

What should you know before using Cequa?

Cequa eye drops contain cyclosporine 0.9 mg/mL. The solution is clear and colorless. Cequa eye drops are packaged as single-use vials without preservatives. Each vial contains 0.25 mL. The vials should be stored at room temperature in their original pouches.

Cequa eye drops should be administered as one drop into each eye twice daily. You should use the vial as soon as it’s opened and throw it away immediately after using. You can use Cequa with artificial tears such as Refresh but be sure to separate administration of the two products by about 15 minutes. Most people will need to apply Cequa ophthalmic solution consistently for 4 to 6 months before noticing significant relief in their dry eye symptoms. When administering Cequa eye drops, do not let the tip of the vial touch your eye or any other surface, because this could contaminate the medication and/or hurt your eye. You should not administer Cequa ophthalmic solution while wearing contact lenses. If you do wear contact lenses, wait at least 15 minutes after administering Cequa eye drops before putting the lenses back in your eyes. However, if you do have chronic dry eye, you should consider avoiding contact lenses to begin with as they can further irritate your eyes.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should talk to your doctor before using this medication. Children under the age of 18 should not use this product, as it has not been tested in children.

FAQ’s

  • What is the cost of Cequa?

You can buy Cequa online at NorthWestPharmacy.com at discounted prices.

  • What is the difference between Cequa and Restasis?

Cequa and Restasis are both eye drops used to treat dry eye that contain the active ingredient cyclosporine. Cequa ophthalmic solution contains cyclosporine at a strength of 0.09%, whereas Restasis contains cyclosporine at a strength of 0.05%. This means that Cequa is slightly stronger than Restasis. The other difference between the two products is that Restasis is an emulsion instead of a solution, meaning that it is oilier than Cequa.
