What is Cyclogest?

Cyclogest is a progesterone hormone that is available as a vaginal suppository to treat amenorrhea and perimenopausal symptoms, and for the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia and to delay or prevent preterm labor, especially for those women that have experienced premature labor with other pregnancies. Progesterone is produced naturally in your adrenal glands, ovaries, and the placenta when you become pregnant.

Cyclogest Helps to Increase Progesterone Levels

Amenorrhea simply means the absence of your monthly period for at least three cycles in a row, or a girl aged 15 that has not menstruated yet. Perimenopause is a woman’s transition into menopause and the start of bothersome symptoms including hot flashes, erratic menstrual cycles, fatigue, and a reduced sex drive. Endometrial hyperplasia can be a problem with not ovulating so your body does not produce progesterone and therefore the uterine lining cannot shed. The vaginal suppository melts quickly from the heat of your hands and fingers so it should be inserted high up into your vagina right after it is out of the packaging. As Cyclogest dissolves, it can ooze out from your vagina and get onto your bedding, clothing, or furniture as you sit. Some women insert the suppository just before bed and wear a panty liner and a towel to save on laundry and possible stains. Keep Cyclogest and other drugs out of children’s reach and away from pets and sources of heat and sunlight.
