What you should know before using Dovato.
Talk to your doctor about any medical conditions you may have, such as:
- Kidney problems
- Liver problems (such as hepatitis infections, or other liver illness)
- Diabetes, or high blood sugar
Also make sure to tell your doctor if you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines (including carbamazepine, rifampin, iron, calcium, laxatives, or vitamins, among others).
Do not breastfeed or become pregnant while on Dovato. HIV can pass through breastmilk, and Dovato may harm an unborn baby.
Do not use Dovato if you take Tikosyn (dofetalide) to treat an irregular heartbeat. If used together, they can cause serious and potentially deadly side effects.
Do not take Dovato if you have ever had an allergic reaction to dolutegravir (Tivicay), or lamivudine (Epivir).
Take Dovato exactly as directed by your doctor; for most people, this means taking it once daily around the same time each day. Do not miss any doses. If you run out, or miss taking pills, the virus in your blood will increase and it will become harder to treat your HIV. Tell your doctor right away if you miss any doses. If you accidentally take a double dose, or more than the recommended amount, go to the emergency room right away.
