What is Felimazole and what is it used for?

Felimazole is an oral medication that is used to treat hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) in cats. Hyperthyroidism in cats can cause weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, and drinking and urinating more than usual. If left untreated, the overactive thyroid could lead to more serious heart problems. The active ingredient in Felimazole is called methimazole. Felimazole works by blocking the production of excess thyroid hormones that cause overactive thyroid.
