Kenacort Description

Kenacort contains Triamcinolone, an oral corticosteroid medication prescribed to treat the inflammation of various conditions including arthritis, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, and asthma. Triamcinolone is similar to a natural hormone produced by your adrenal glands. It often is used to replace this chemical when your body does not make enough of it.

Oral Corticosteroids Can Help to Ease the Pain of Inflammation

When taken as directed, Kenacort works by acting on your immune system to block the production of certain chemicals, such as prostaglandins, that can trigger an inflammatory response to a threat. One of your immune systems’ first response to infection or other harmful triggers is inflammation. The redness, swelling, and pain that accompany inflammation are caused by the increased blood flow into the target area as a way to contain the danger so it cannot spread.

Allergies, Symptoms, and Causes

Allergic reactions are sensitivities to substances called allergens that come into contact with the skin, nose, eyes, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract. They can be breathed into the lungs, swallowed, or injected through an insect sting or bite. Symptoms of allergic reactions can range from hives, nasal congestion, watery eyes and itching when the reaction is mild, to difficulty breathing or swallowing, wheezing, and unconsciousness in the event of severe allergic reactions.

Pollen, dust mites, and mold spores are among the more common allergens that may trigger a mild allergic reaction, while possible severe allergens include pet dander, certain medicines, insect bites or stings, and various foods. Before Kenacort is Prescribed to You

Advise your doctor of any medical conditions you may have and all meds you are taking before you start Kenacort or generic Triamcinolone to avoid possible adverse reactions with Triamcinolone. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or are breast feeding so it can be determined if Kenacort is safe to take at this time. Kenacort Precautions

Steroid medications such as Kenacort or generic Triamcinolone can weaken your immune system, making it easier for you to get an infection or worsening an infection you may already have. You should not take Kenacort if you have a fungal infection. Do not share Kenacort with others and always keep medications out of children’s reach.
