NOZINAN INJECTION (LEVOMEPROMAZINE HYDROCHLORIDE)

Nozinan Injection Description

The active ingredient of a Nozinan Injection is Levomepromazine Hydrochloride, a member of the phenothiazine drugs that can be effective for treating the symptoms of schizophrenia, and to control nausea and vomiting, and relieve severe pain and distress in those with a terminal illness. You are usually administered Nozinan Injection by a qualified healthcare worker in a hospital setting, unless otherwise arranged to treat or be treated at home.

Inhibit the Actions of Dopamine

It is not fully understood how this medication works, however, Nozinan Injection has a potent effect on a persons’ central nervous system (CNS). For patients that are experiencing nausea and/or vomiting because of cancer treatments, a Nozinan Injection will work to block the receptors of a neurotransmitter called dopamine which are located in the brains’ vomit center. This action stops messages from the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) being received so you will not become nauseous or vomit. It is the action of Levomepromazine HCl with dopamine that is believed to be the reason for helping people with schizophrenia as it inhibits the actions of this neurotransmitter in several pathways.

Conditions Treated by Nozinan Injection

Schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses are believed to be a result of the overactivity of dopamine. This brain chemical is responsible for keeping you emotionally balanced, and affects your physical movements and how you behave. Too much dopamine can cause the symptoms of schizophrenia, including hallucinations, delusions, odd body movements, memory loss, or not being able to keep your thoughts straight. Treatment with Nozinan Injection is not a cure, but it can help you to function better in your daily life and enjoy family and friends again.

Before You are Administered a Nozinan Injection

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding before a Nozinan Injection as it could be harmful to your unborn or nursing baby. You or a family member should discuss other medical conditions or allergies with your doctor and list any current OTC or Rx drugs you use or take, including herbal remedies and dietary or vitamin supplements to determine if Nozinan Injection is safe for you.

Nozinan Injection Precautions and Recommendations

If you are administering the Nozinan Injection at home, be sure you have been instructed properly on how, when, and where to inject. Your doctor or pharmacist can provide you with a special container to use for disposing used material, including used needles, syringes, and vials.

Wear sunscreen and protective clothing if exposed to sunlight as your skin may be more sensitive to its rays. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar as Levomepromazine Hydrochloride may cause it to rise. Do not consume any alcohol while being treated with Levomepromazine Hydrochloride. All medications and drug paraphernalia must be stored safely out of children’s reach. Drink water often to avoid becoming dehydrated.
