PRESERVEX (ACECLOFENAC)
Preservex Description
Preservex or generic Aceclofenac, is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID) that can be prescribed to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.
Rheumatoid arthritis involves damage to joint linings and the cartilage and can begin around the age 20. Osteoarthritis usually affects hips, knees, hands, spine, and feet but can cause the breakdown of cartilage in other joints as well. Ankylosing spondylitis tends to cause chronic inflammation of the spine that can result in some of the vertebrae fusing together so you may develop a hunched over posture.
Decrease the Production of Inflammatory Substances
When taken as directed, Preservex will work to block the activity of 2 enzymes called COX-1 and COX-2 (cyclooxygenase), both of which are responsible for producing chemical messengers called prostaglandins. Every cell in your body contains prostaglandins and when there is an injury, they are signaled and cause inflammation as part of the healing process. Unfortunately, inflammation causes more inflammation and therefore, more pain. By suppressing the action of prostaglandins, the inflammation and pain are reduced.
There are no cures for arthritis, but there are effective treatments that include Preservex. Once your pain and inflammation has subsided, your doctor may reduce your dosage as long-term NSAID use can cause other health problems. Talk to your doctor about other things you can do to relieve the symptoms and allow you to stay active.
Conditions Treated by Preservex
The cause of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is unknown, but it is an autoimmune disease. This means that for some reason, your immune system believes that you are under attack by your own tissues and signals for back-up to defend the area. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common type of arthritis and is caused by every day wear and tear of the joints or can occur as a result of an injury. This disease is mostly found in the elderly population. Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disease that can start to appear between the ages of 17 – 35 years old. Without pain relief, you find simple, daily chores difficult to deal with.
