What are possible Prezista side effects?
The most common Prezista side effects include: diarrhea (loose stools), nausea (feeling sick to your stomach), stomach pain, vomiting (throwing up), and headache.
Another possible Prezista medication side effect is increased bleeding in people who have hemophilia. Call your doctor if you experience any new bleeding or bruising after starting Prezista.
A serious side effect of Prezista is increased blood sugar. Some people that take Prezista may develop diabetes. People who already have diabetes may find it harder to keep their blood sugar under control while taking Prezista. Call your doctor if you begin to get thirsty more often, or pee more frequently, as these can be the first signs of high blood sugar.
A possible Prezista side effect is a change in body fat. You may lose fat in your arms, legs, or face, whereas you may gain fat in your upper back and neck, breasts, or around the middle of your body. Some people notice a 'buffalo hump' deposit of fat in the upper back and neck.
Prezista is able to weaken the HIV virus well enough that your immune system may suddenly begin to fight other infections that were waiting in your body before the HIV infection. This is known as immune reconstitution syndrome. Contact your doctor if you suddenly start having new health problems after taking Prezista.
Call your doctor immediately if you experience a rash after taking Prezista. This could be a sign of a serious allergic reaction. Call your doctor if you get a rash, along with any of the following symptoms:
-
-
A high body temperature (fever)
-
-
Blisters, pimples or sores inside your mouth
-
Peeling or blistered skin
-
-
Liver problems (hepatitis)
-
Eosinophilia (too many white blood cells)
Another possible Prezista medication side effect includes serious liver problems where your liver stops working. This is called drug-induced hepatitis. If you have liver problems, you may feel sick to your stomach, or vomit. You may lose your appetite, or have stomach pain. Your stools can become light colored, and your urine can become dark, or brownish like tea. Your skin or eyes may appear yellowish (jaundice). Call your doctor immediately if you notice any of these problems.
