PYRALVEX SOLUTION (ANTHRAQUINONE GLYCOSIDES/SALICYLIC ACID)

Pyralvex Solution Description

If you are experiencing ongoing pain and inflammation from a mouth ulcer, ask your doctor about a prescription for Pyralvex Solution. Many times these sores will clear up on their own in a week or so, but if you are still dealing with an ulcer that refuses to heal or disappear, it’s time for some help.

Pyralvex Solution contains 2 active ingredients, the first is a rhubarb extract called Anthraquinone Glycosides and the second is Salicylic Acid. Your doctor will want to examine the affected area to be certain there is no infection or something else going on.

Reduce the Pain and Inflammation of Mouth Sores

When applied as directed, Pyralvex Solution will be absorbed into your oral tissues. Anthraquinone Glycosides will work to inhibit pain signals and help to calm down inflammation but is still a bit vague as to its exact mechanism for helping mouth ulcers.

Salicylic Acid blocks the action of certain enzymes called cyclooxygenase (COX) 1 and 2 so they are limited in the production of inflammatory chemicals called prostaglandins. With lower levels of prostaglandins being sent to the affected area, there is less inflammation and your blood flow is also decreased so the ulcer is less red and swollen.

Conditions Treated by Pyralvex Solution

Risk factors for having mouth sores include, poor oral hygiene, ill-fitting dentures, acidic food or drink, wearing braces, or an injury from biting your tongue or cheek. These sores can affect your ability to eat, drink, and even talk because of the pain. Your doctor will be able to assess whether it is a common mouth ulcer or caused by an underlying health condition so do not ignore treatment if the sore is still bothersome after 2-3 weeks.

Before Pyralvex Solution is Prescribed

Ask your doctor if Pyralvex Solution is safe to use if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding. Your doctor should be aware of other medical conditions or allergies you have and any OTC or Rx drugs you currently take or use, including herbal remedies and dietary or vitamin supplements, to determine if Pyralvex Solution is right for you.

Pyralvex Solution Precautions

Stay away from acidic food/drinks while treating mouth sores with Pyralvex Solution. Keep this, and other medications, out of children’s reach and do not share Pyralvex Solution with others as the applicator can become contaminated. Pyralvex Solution may cause your teeth or oral mucosa to stain temporarily due to the rhubarb extract. Do not eat or drink anything for 15 minutes after treatment, or 30 minutes before inserting dentures. Children under 16 years of age should not use Pyralvex Solution due to the Salicylic Acid it contains which, in rare cases, have caused Reye’s Syndrome.

Possible Side Effects of Pyralvex Solution

  • Discoloration of teeth or oral tissues
