Teveten Plus Description

Just because you have no symptoms that indicate your blood pressure is high, it’s important to have regular doctor visits to have it checked out as you get older. Undiagnosed, untreated, and uncontrolled hypertension can lead to a higher risk of a heart attack, stroke, or kidney disease. Some people with hypertension may also have edema (fluid retention) as a result of heart failure, or kidney failure. Teveten Plus contains 2 active medications; Eprosartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) known as a diuretic or water pill.

When taken as directed, Eprosartan will work to prevent your body from making angiotensin II. This is a hormone that regulates your blood pressure by causing blood vessels to narrow or widen and retains sodium in your body. If your body is unable to compensate, your blood vessels can constrict and cause your heart to work harder to pump blood around your body and creates tremendous pressure on vessel walls. The action of Eprosartan opens your blood vessels and proper blood flow can be restored.

HCTZ will work to prevent your kidneys from retaining fluid and sodium (salt) by increasing urination. Teveten Plus also stops your kidneys from reabsorbing sodium as fluid travels through to your bladder. It may be advised to take Teveten Plus in the morning so frequent trips to the washroom does not disturb your sleep.

Hypertension may also be reduced by changing your lifestyle in ways that help you lose weight, stop smoking, avoid fast food, limit salt and alcohol, and become more active. Having high blood pressure is also not an exclusive condition older people can get. Younger adults in their 20’s are being diagnosed as hypertensive. This could be from stress, bad diet, obesity, or medical conditions such as diabetes.

Before Teveten Plus is Prescribed

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breast feeding as Teveten Plus may be harmful to your unborn or nursing baby. Discuss other medical conditions or allergies with your doctor and list any OTC or Rx medication you currently take, including alternative and complimentary drugs. This can determine whether your doctor thinks Teveten Plus is right for you.

Teveten Plus Precautions

Until you know how Teveten Plus will affect you, do not drive or perform any task that requires your full attention. You should not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medication without talking to your doctor first as this can affect how other drugs will affect you. Keep Teveten Plus out of children’s reach and never share your meds with anyone else.
