The 3 active ingredients in Tri-Luma Cream may be prescribed to treat melasma, a common skin condition that results from your body producing too much melanin which causes dark patches of skin. The face is the usual target but it can appear on your neck or forearms during pregnancy and fade once you’ve given birth. Cholasma is the same as melasma, except it occurs in some of those that are not pregnant.

Fluocinonide Acetonide 0.01% is corticosteroid that helps to reduce inflammation and swelling; Hydroquinone 4% is a skin bleaching agent for lightening your dark skin patches; Tretinoin 0.05% is a form of Vitamin A that will help speed up the renewal of your skin cells. If you are pregnant, you should not apply Tri-Luma until after baby is born and is bottle fed to avoid any risks of absorption through mother’s skin.
