Major News Publication Reports on Big Pharma Lobby Attacking Safe and Affordable Medicine Importation
The International Business Times (IBT) just published a thorough article detailing how Big Pharma interests are trying to stop you from importing personal amounts of prescription drugs. The article highlights Big Pharma pressure on credit card companies to prohibit you from using your credit card at importation websites, their use of misinformation campaigns to confound legitimate importation sites with “rogue” online pharmacies, and more.
As reported in the IBT article, legitimacy testing on online pharmacies conducted independently by the National Bureau of Economic Research reveals that “[a]ll the medicines obtained from any type of certified pharmacy proved legitimate, but that those that were certified by CIPA [Canadian International Pharmacy Association] or PharmacyChecker were half as expensive as the drugs ordered from U.S. based outlets”. We note that NorthWestPharmacy.com is certified by both the Canadian International Pharmacy Association and PharmacyChecker.
Regardless, Big Pharma advocates continue to try to confound legitimate drug importation with rogue online pharmacies. They use bogus terms like “faux” to refer to even CIPA and PharmacyChecker certified sites in an attempt to lobby the public and decision makers into believing that only their touted and considerably more expensive pharmacies are legitimate.
Given all this, we encourage everyone to sign up for super-informative updates from the Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation (CPPI), which reveal the truth behind the various special interests that are fighting to make you pay more for your medicines. The CPPI was launched in late April to advocate for Americans who import their medications. Its sole purpose is to work with you, your family and friends, and others who believe in the fundamental right to importing medications from safe and affordable sources. Check out the CPPI website, follow them on Facebook and Twitter, and sign up for their high impact, low volume newsletter.
Your voice alone is how we will promote and protect your right to importing your medications. We hope you will get involved and stay engaged.
Please feel free to reach out to us or Bryan Tackett, Executive Director of CPPI, with any questions.
